Hi, Iโ€™m sveinhal ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

My name is Svein Halvor Halvorsen, but I go by my handle sveinhal.

Iโ€™m a full stack software engineer, that like to develop apps for iOS. I have made apps for the iPhone since before there even was an App Store, back when jailbreaking your phone, SSH-ing in and running GCC directly on the bare aluminum was the only way around. Since then, things have gotten a lot easier: An official SDK, clang, Objective-C 2.0, ARC, and now also the newer, more modern language Swift. This blog is mostly about Swift.

In my day job I make iOS apps through a small employee-owned consultancy called Fink that I also co-founded, based in Oslo, Norway. Fink makes custom tailored web and mobile apps, including front- and backends, for both industry leaders as well as start-ups. Fink is also the Norwegian name for the finch family of birds.

If you want to work with me, or one of my awesome colleagues, donโ€™t hesitate to contact me a line at svein@finkoslo.no or finkoslo.no, or ping me on Twitter.

When Iโ€™m not programming, I enjoy traveling the world, hiking and going to festivals. I also like to go swimming in the ocean on hot summer days.
